School’s out for the summer and celebrations have kicked off in full gear! From celebrating Juneteenth and learning about Black history to admiring art, tasting summer harvests, and gathering for cultural festivals, this weekend’s events have it all.

For its 41st year, the Narragansett Art Festival, hosted by The Rotary Club of Wakefield, invites the community to a weekend of fine art, now with art vendors set up at both the Towers and Gazebo Field to peruse. June 22–23, Narragansett

Rhode Island Slave History Medallions presents Newport Black History Walking Tours: Lost Stories of Resistance & Freedom, opening this weekend, where attendees can learn about colonial Black Americans as they walk in their footsteps. Recurring, tickets online, Newport

THURSDAY, June 20

The Main Street Stroll series unleashes Dogs on Main – the parade of canines and their people steps off at 6pm, led by the Extraordinary Rendition Band and concluding at Town Hall for contest winner announcements during this lively community event. 5-8pm, East Greenwich

SATURDAY, June 22

Commemorate the abolition of slavery in the Confederate states at the Juneteenth RI Festival at 195 District Park, a day-long celebration of African American liberations and contributions, with live entertainment from Stokley. 12-7pm, Providence

The German-American Cultural Society of RI hosts Sommerfest, with live entertainment, authentic German cuisine from the Ratskeller Kitchen, brews in the outdoor Biergarten, and more. Don’t miss the cake table or gift shop! Tickets online, Pawtucket

Back for its fourth year, the Tiverton Farmers Market invites the community to celebrate the start of summer at the Strawberry Shortcake Social, where attendees can indulge in all things strawberry, from cupcakes to kombucha, and enjoy live music. 10am–2pm, Tiverton
