Rhody Weekend Must-Do's: August 22-25

The Rhode Island Women's Choreography Project presents Here & Now, featuring six emerging female-identifying and nonbinary choreographers presenting new works, performed by professional dancers. Tickets online, August 24-25, Providence

Catch live music by Avery Dodd, The Naticks, and The XTet throughout the weekend at Shaidzon Beer Co., slinging food from Hank’s Down South BBQ for a free-entry, pet-friendly last hurrah of summer. August 23-25, West Kingston 

Put your Rhode Island knowledge to the test with Leadership Rhode Island’s Statewide Scavenger Hunt. Register your team for a weekend of scouting local treasures, and learn about our home state along the way. Tickets online, August 24-25, statewide

SATURDAY, August 24

A short speaking program followed by a hike at Tutsch and Merrill S. Whipple Conservation Area comprises the Land Trust Days 2024 Kickoff event with Coventry Land Trust. Guests will experience streams, meadows, and swamplands. 2-4pm, Coventry

Kin Southern Table + Bar hosts Rhythm & Rum: Caribbean Block Party, an evening packed with live entertainment, food, hookah, games, and, of course, rum! Tastings will be provided of Bacardi, Appleton, and Santa Teresa. Tickets online, Providence 

Inspired by 1950s celebrations for the LGBTQ+ community to live loud and proud, the Rainbow Tea Party is arc{hive} book + snackery’s version of this event combining tea service and dancing, with unique drinks, snacks, and surprises. 5-9pm, Warren

The whole family is invited to the Trinity Square Block Party, a free gathering of delicious food, live music, fun activities, prizes, and opportunities to connect with neighbors and learn about local resources. 12-4pm, Providence

Grab your helmet and get ready for a day of pedaling for the 10-Spot Ride, Bike Newport’s unique experience inviting cyclists to visit 10 destinations showcasing the City by the Sea, all revealed the morning of the ride. Tickets online, Newport

SUNDAY, August 25

Top acts take over three stages at the scenic Crescent Park for this year’s Rhode Island Folk Festival, a full day of music, along with food trucks, a songwriting workshop with Mark Cutler, kids’ activities, and more. 12-6pm, Riverside

It’s Take Me Fishing Day at the Kelly House Barn, where young anglers can catch some fish, learn about the river, and earn a badge with the help of Park Rangers. Fishing materials and bait are provided. 1-4pm, Lincoln
